University of Doha for Science and Technology – Sport and Wellness Department - Profile:   

University of Doha for Science and Technology – Sport and Wellness Department is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Head, Community Initiatives and Ancillary Services.  Reporting to the Manager, Sport and Wellness, the Head, Community Initiatives and Ancillary Services must possess the skills and expertise necessary to support the Sport and Wellness Department of the University and fully implementing UDST’s mission and vision. The incumbent will play a lead role in the planning, development and delivery of revenue generating community initiatives, establish and monetize appropriate partner relations with a myriad of public and private sector organizations and the oversight and execution of larger scale, community facing events and ensuring effective, efficient and balanced use of over 25 bookable Sport and Wellness Facilities.

 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the recommendation of and strategy with regard to Sport and Wellness revenue generation and strategic business planning as it relates to engaging UDST stakeholders and greater community.
  2. Research, plan, promote and deliver key community facing events, facilities and innovative programming when appropriate with strategic partners.
  3. May be required to provide leadership/coaching expertise to a particular varsity sport program and his/her credentials and coaching experience warrants same.
  4. Develop, lead and operationalize customer service standards and implementation through a variety of Sport and Wellness offerings and ensure quality and standards are maintained and when appropriate, surpassed.
  5. Serve as Sport and Wellness lead for strategic partner contracts including externally operated sport academies and related programming oversight and explore new and beneficial partnerships with external organizations. The Head, Community Initiatives and Ancillary Services will be responsible for UDST deliverables in relation to such agreements. 
  6. Lead in development, oversight and maintenance of the Sport and Wellness booking system and oversight of all Sport and Wellness facility scheduling requirements.
  7. Oversee timely and effective maintenance (all Sport and Wellness Facilities) and provide strategic input into the enhancement of current facilities stock and serve a key contributor to the planning of new facility developments.
  8. Identify and analyze viable ancillary service business opportunities to better service UDST.
  9. Lead in development and supervision of University and Varsity branded retail merchandise operation and sales.
  10. Collaborate with appropriate UDST representatives to ensure that safety is a key element of all access to Sport and Wellness Facilities and Services and will develop and continuously refine appropriate operational framework to promote same.
  11. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  12. Provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on UDST’s Employee Performance Management framework and take strict measures on cases of poor performance.
  13. Contribute to the development of employees through identifying appropriate learning and development opportunities.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in either Sport Management, Sport Marketing, Facility Management or related discipline required.

Master’s Degree/Professional certification is preferred.

Internationally recognized coaching certification is preferred.

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in relevant field

1-2 Years Managerial experience

Fluency in written and spoken English language is required.

Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred.
