The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is seeking a passionate and experienced Academic Advising Specialist to join our vibrant Student Central Services Department, in the Academic Advising Unit.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head, Academic Advising, the successful candidate will provide academic advising services (in collaboration with faculty advisors) in a developmental dual academic advising model based on a dynamic student/advisor relationship. In this role, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting student success by providing comprehensive academic advising services. You will build strong relationships with students, helping them navigate their academic journey, develop personalized learning plans, and achieve their full potential.

 

  • In collaboration with Academic Learning Services, develop and implement individualized student success plans, focusing on maximizing potential and supporting at-risk students.
  • Regularly meet with advisees to track progress, address concerns, and revise plans as needed.
  • Stay updated on UDST programs and policies, providing accurate information and guidance to students.
  • Assist students with course selection, sequencing, and registration.
  • Connect students with relevant campus resources for academic, personal, and social support.
  • Assist with the facilitation of workshops and training for faculty academic advisors.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to enhance student support services.
  • Utilize EAB Navigate360 to maintain accurate records.
  • Utilize EAB Navigate360 to maintain appointment availability and manage student advising appointments.
  • Assist with organizing and running campus-wide academic advising events.
  • Assist with the hiring and mentoring of peer academic advisors (PAAs).
  • Ensure adherence to academic advising policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required

Master’s degree and/or professional certification is preferred

 

Experience:

 

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience is required, preferably in the higher education sector

 

Language:

 

Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language is required.
