University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is the first national applied University in the State of Qatar, offering applied Bachelors and Master’s degrees in addition to certificates and diplomas in various fields. The Student Central Services Department invites applications for the position of Head, Academic Learning Services.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Student Central Services, the successful candidate will oversee the academic support services provided to students and ensure students are provided with learning services throughout their academic journey.

 

The successful candidate will do :

 

1. Manage and oversee the development and daily operations of the academic learning services to

address the needs of the UDST student population, including tutoring, supplemental instruction, study skills, academic coaching, time management strategies and other resources.

2. Collaborate with the Colleges to assess and implement remediation support to Colleges and other

Business Units, related to academic learning and student success.

3. Establish and maintain relationships with Colleges, Business Units, and faculty to ensure that

academic support services align with the needs of students and academic programs.

4. Develop and deliver assessment and evaluation processes to determine the effectiveness of

academic support services.

5. Lead the development and continued enhancement of a comprehensive tutoring program for

students to improve their academic performance.

6. Manage current academic help centers on campus and devise additional support initiatives as

aligned to the University’s strategy.

7. Develop and implement a comprehensive study skills program to equip students with the tools

necessary to succeed academically.

8. Research and develop up-to-date evidence-based strategies for student success and remediation for

students at-risk.

9. Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the Academic Learning Services Unit, establishing KPIs and performance metrics.

10. Create and refine academic support strategies tailored to both undergraduate and graduate students, ensuring alignment with evolving student needs.

11. Leverage student success management technologies to enhance the delivery of academic learning services, while utilizing data analytics to inform decision-making and improve outcomes

12. Lead the development and implementation of an “improvement plan development service” to

address areas for improvement, set goals, and set action plan, with the ultimate goal of achieving

improved outcomes.

13. Plan and develop workshops for academic learning such as learn to learn, academic recovery, and

learning styles.

14. Provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct

subordinates based on UDST’s Employee Performance Management framework and take strict

measures on cases of poor performance.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required.

Master’s degree and professional qualification is preferred

 

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in related field.

 

Language:

Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language is required

 

Other Required Skills

 

Highly detail-oriented individual with a proactive can-do attitude to work is essential. A commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organizations is required. Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills.
